TEAM

Science encourages children to ask questions, seek answers, and be curious about the world

By teaching children to observe, question and hypothesise, we help them develop valuable skills that are applicable in various areas of life, not just science.

MEET THE VOLUNTEERS

PE Limited Petex

The LAB22 is very privileged to be fully funded by Petex which allows The LAB22 to keep all of our sessions free of charge to all school groups and children.

An added benefit has also been the incredibly helpful volunteers from within Petex who have provided their time in a variety of ways to support the day to day running of the lab or assist in the teaching of the school groups.

The Petex volunteers shown below is the list of volunteers who take time out of their working day to support The LAB22 in encouraging young children’s enthusiasm in STEM topics.

Luis Lamas

“Children are curious by nature, and allowing them to have contact with science in young age in such active way is not only fun, but can also bring profound impact in their future.”

Abgail Pinheiro

“It is a fantastic experience to meet curious young schoolchildren and to be able to help them with small projects on metals, electricity, and forces in Lab 22. Having seen the happiness in the eyes of some children during these small projects, I am sure that this kind of experience will constitute their first steps in what may become long, brilliant scientific careers.”

Manal Khelfat

“I have always been fascinated by the ability of explain why something is happening using science. This led me to a STEM career which changed my life. Volunteering at Lab22 is a way showing kids how exciting and valuable science can be. I wish I had a Lab 22 back in my childhood!”

Mohammad Joukar

“Physics is a fascinating subject that helps us learn about the universe and leads to new inventions that can change the future. Starting your journey into physics at school can make the exploration of this subject both enjoyable and seamless."

Nikita Lenchenkov

Raulindo Veloso

“Geology allows us to read the stories of the planet written on rocks. Among others, these tales tell of landscapes and seascapes inhabited by dinosaurs and giant marine reptiles. Mineral resources were formed over millions of years by geological processes and are hosted by rocks, raising the importance of them to our society. Understanding the past is key to the future.”

Márcio Pivello

Fraser McCann

"I was inspired to study science in primary school by one of my teachers. My favourite experiment was “Mentos in Coke”! The Lab 22 gives young people an opportunity to experience physics that they will see in their everyday life in an equally fun and engaging way. I feel privileged to now be able to inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers."

Liuyang Feng

"It is absolutely amazing to see how science inspires these kids at LAB22. Listening to them asking all kinds of questions and helping them with lab activities make me realise the importance of science education in early years. Never too early to learn science."

Nicolás Sosa

Shaktidhar Dandapani

Laura Benczes

“Children are the future of science, being able to inspire and support kids in education is something I’m really passionate about. It’s a joy to see them enjoy learning and having fun in this environment”

“In today's world, scientific literacy is essential. Science education equips children with the knowledge and understanding to navigate the increasingly scientific and technological society we live in.”

The LAB22 empowers children to make informed decisions, critically evaluate scientific information and engage with scientific advancements and debates.
